Rubber Crumb is the standard infill for an all-weather sports field surface. Artificial turf has rubber crumb between the blades: the grass holds the crumb in place to retain a cushioned surface.
There are several advantages to Rubber Crumb.
- It provides the required bounce characteristics,
- it provides a cushioned surface which reduces the likelihood of player injury.
Rubber crumb is a key ingredient in the manufacture of "shock pads", which are laid underneath the turf on high quality pitches to meet FiFA and /or IRB specifications.

In this case only 4 bags of 500kg were used to give a shallow coat. The amount can be varied depending on the desired surface characteristics. Delivery can also be in bulk by truck.
